London & Imperial College

During the first week of August, 2005, Vicki, David, and Daniel accompanied Eric to London where he will begin his studies in chemistry at Imperial College starting in October. Eric wanted to be in London two months earlier so that he could earn some money and get used to the place. The trip was a lot of fun, and we got much accomplished, from buying an iMac G5 to dealing with all kinds of administrative matters.

This page contains a number of images taken during those few days. The first two ([1] and [2] were taken at Nice airport just before our departure. During his initial two months in London, Eric will stay in a lovely residential street [3] where he will share a room [4] with a student from, of all places, North Carolina! A few photos of the Imperial College campus are next. This handy map will be helpful in locating the buildings whose numbers are given in the captions.

Most of the other photographs were taken in Kensington where we spent almost all of our time, though we did, of course, take a break to have High Tea at Fortnum & Mason's Patio Restaurant. Eric made a new friend in the toy department of the store, and we feel he might have taken him home if he did not already have a room mate. At the end of the week, Vicki, David, and Daniel flew back to Nice leaving Eric to explore his new surroundings on his own. It seems safe to say that we will be in London somewhat more often during the next few years!
