Yet Another Photo Sampler

The pandemic has changed our lives in many ways; for instance, we have significantly cut down on travel, and this deprives me of one of my main sources of photographs for this website. Even within the area we don't move around much these days, and this further cuts down on the material available to me. I have therefore decided to present yet another sampler of different photos taken over the years. This time, though, I reprocessed all the original files using DxO PhotoLab 5 and its wonderful DeepPRIME raw converter engine (an older version of which I presented on this page a little over a year ago. It's even better now!)

I used to rely on DeepPRIME only for a select few high-ISO images. The reason is that on my quad-core i7 iMac, each photo took between 45 and 60 seconds to process; with my new computer, the same task takes approximately five seconds per image, so now I use DeepPRIME for all my RAW photos. To appreciate what DeepPRIME can do, take a look at photos 16 and 24 at 100%. Both were taken at ISO 10000, and in my opinion, the quality is spectacular. Many of these photographs have already appeared on this site, though some have not. A few technical details are provided under every image: camera make and model, focal length, ISO value, shutter speed, aperture, and, when used, exposure compensation in stops. As with A Photo Sampler and Another Photo Sampler, all focal lengths are given as 35mm equivalent values. Of the digital cameras used, only the Nikon D750 is full frame; all others have APS-C sensors with a crop factor of 1.5. Finally, all these images were shot in RAW, except numbers 7, 8, and 9 (captured as JPEG) and photos 1 and 22 (shot on film). Enjopy this virtual roll of 36 exposures!
